The buy out was headed by company chief executive Jon Minshaw whose racing driver father Alan founded the business in 1970 to supply the specialist parts and equipment needed by motors ports competitors.

Distillery May Be Taken Over

WHISKY distiller Glenmorangie is in talks about a takeover. The firm, one of the largest remaining independent companies in the Scotch whisky industry, said it was in preliminary discussions with a number of potentially interested parties. The group said it had told advisers to seek offers after its founding family, the MacDonalds -- who together with trusts control more than half the firm's voting rights -- said they wanted to sell their stakes.

GWYNEDD photographer Nigel Hughes has invested more than pounds 100, 000 in digital picture printing equipment for his Porthmadog High Street studio and photography shop. The investment was supported by an economic development package from Gwynedd County Council.

SUPERMARKET shoppers spent more than pounds 5. 1bn on beer and lager, wine, and spirits over the past year -- accounting for three of the four biggest food and drink categories.
