GIFTED performer who started rapping as an experiment just five months ago has taken the Welsh music scene by storm. Kerry Walters, 20, of Caernarfon, has already performed on Radio 1 while her track Triwch hi ar (Try it On), was single of the week on Huw Stephens's Radio Cymru show. She is working on a session for the station's night time show C2 and has two EPs in the pipeline.

Reader's Eye/Celebration: Anna Gets a Head for Tsunami Aid
WHEN Ysgol Rhiwabon's religious studies teacher, Anna Aylward, decided to raise funds for the Tsunami Disaster Appeal by offering Indian Head Massages, who better to start on than the Head of her school, Peter Shaw. Anna said: 'I am sure there are times when we all want to get our hands on our boss. Not only did I achieve that, but I also persuaded him to make a very generous donation to this extremely worthy cause.'
THE first woman to be appointed county commissioner of the St John Ambulance Brigade passed away recently. Betty Jones, who lived in Felinheli, had been involved with the organisation for 25 years before she was awarded the top job back in 1979.
Calor Village of the Year for Wales: Vibrant Villages
THE Calor Village of the Year competition might well have been called the 'we never knew just how much we all did!' contest. Feedback from participating villages shows communities working together, improving the quality of life for young and old, setting themselves ambitions targets and hence creating warm, welcoming places to live.

Can you spot the bear? This photo was originally taken to capture the ducks and the chicks but when it was developed the photographer, Eirlys Evans of Wrexham noticed the image of a bear in the tree trunk. Camera Homage to Poetry Master
LLANRWST Almshouses will be showing a photographic exhibition celebrating the centenary of the birth of one of the greatest Welsh- language poets of the 20th century. Entitled Sea of Light/Dark Land, photographer Aled R Hughes focuses on Waldo Williams (1904-71) whose greatest work was his single collection, Dail Pren (Leaves of a Tree) written in 1956.
A SCHOOL has provided the first experience of snow for a visiting headteacher from a South African township. Luvuyo Ngubelanga is the headteacher of Kwamfundo Senior Secondary School in Khayelitisha, a black township outside Capetown. 'We have big plans for our project and Luvuyo's visit here is just the beginning,' said Ysgol Rhiwabon headmaster Peter Shaw.

BARRISTERS will have to pass a political correctness test if they wish to become Queen Counsels under the new proposals for the silk selection system. A document produced by the Department for Constitutional Affairs, the Law Society and the Bar Council says that aspiring silks must be able to demonstrate 'an understanding of diversity and cultural issues', show that they are 'aware of their own limitations' and be able to 'motivate, listen to and work with other members of the team'.
