CAMPAIGNERS were last night celebrating after primary care trusts in Merseyside and Cheshire agreed to start offering a kidney cancer drug on the NHS. Sutent, is a drug yet to be licensed by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence, meaning PCTs are not obliged to offer it.

THE policeman who died after attending a domestic incident yesterday has been named as Pc Chris Roberts, a father-of-three. Pc Roberts, 47, who worked with a 24-hour response team based at Wembley, north London, joined the Metropolitan Police in 1983 and Scotland Yard said he had dedicated his career to being a uniformed constable.

Escaped Killer Recaptured by the Police After Three Months On Run
AN ESCAPED prisoner who was serving time for the killing of a man in Liverpool was captured on Christmas Eve after three months on the run, police have said. Raymond Alvin Kennedy, 33, who was in the 16th year of an indeterminate sentence for killing a vagrant in Liverpool city centre, fled from Sudbury open prison in Derbyshire last September. ennedy was just 15 when he kicked and beat Ronald Davies to death in 1991.
