Jackson Joins Youth of the World at City's Portrait of a Nation Summit
THE red carpet treatment was given to over 400 young people from 17 cities yesterday as the Portrait of a Nation youth summit kicked off at St George's Hall. The two-day event was opened by Culture Minister Andy Burnham MP and is a culmination of a two year project in which more than 3,000 young people have looked at who they are, where they come from and their hopes for the future as young adults.

THIRSTY football fans are being "ripped off" by the sky-high cost of a pint of lager at Merseyside's Premiership giants, it was claimed yesterday. The Liberal Democrats hit out at both Liverpool and Everton for charging up to 44p more per pint than drinkers would pay at the average pub.
LIVERPOOL Council is failing to respond to around 40% of Freedom of Information requests within the legal timescale, it emerged last night. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has raised a number of concerns with the council over the situation.
Police Launch Drink-Drug Crackdown
POLICE have launched their annual crackdown on drink and drug driving over the festive period. Last year 5,388 drivers were breathalysed during Merseyside's drink-drive campaign and one in 17 drivers were arrested for positive, refused or failed breathalyser tests.
In Brief: Woman in Freezer Not yet Named
POLICE have still not formally identified a woman, thought to be aged in her 60s, whose remains were discovered in a freezer at a house in Southport. Detectives on Friday found the woman's body at the semi-detached property in Norwood Crescent.
