Museum Friends Group Disbanded in City Row ; Support Organisation Ordered Out of Hq Exclusive

A GROUP set up to give financial support and arrange volunteering in Liverpool's museums and galleries has effectively been disbanded, the Daily Post can reveal. National Museums Liverpool (NML) have ordered the Friends of National Museums Liverpool (FNML) out of their headquarters at the Albert Dock.

Man Hit by Runaway Horse Critical

A RACECOURSE worker who was hit by a running horse at Haydock on Saturday was described as "critical but stable" last night. An investigation has been launched into the incident which left Malcolm Sibley, 64, with serious injuries. He was taken to Fazakerley hospital following the accident, which saw the David Nicholls-trained Pure Imagination get loose and crash through a running rail, colliding with Mr Sibley, who lives in Newton-le- Willows.

A FORMER soldier accused of raping a teenager has died in hospital two days after he was found hanging from a makeshift noose in his Liverpool prison cell. Matthew James Lecras, 21, of Anglesey, was discovered by guards hanging with a bedsheet around his neck on Thursday afternoon at the privately run Altcourse prison.

Man Admits Stealing Mail From Homes

A 28-YEAR-OLD man has admitted stealing mail and parcels - and told police he had done the same at homes in Lancashire. At a special weekend court, David Wallis, of no fixed address but originally from Merseyside, was remanded in custody in Llandudno. Gareth Parry, prosecuting, said Wallis also faced charges of drink- driving at Ormskirk and in Somerset.

Firefighter Games Get Tv Preview

A TELEVISION preview of the World Firefighter Games is being shown tonight. The World Firefighters Games 2008 is coming to Liverpool in August and Sky's Open Culture Channel 167 is showing clips of the games' 73 sports including wrestling, tug of war and power lifting. The debut screening will take place from 8-9pm, and will initially run for two consecutive weeks, with regular slots to follow.
