Wales: Welsh House Prices Slump Deepest
WALES saw the steepest fall in house prices in the country in the year up to the end of January, according to figures published yesterday. Welsh homes lost 19.7% of their value, compared with a national average of 15.1% - itself a record.

Wales: Decision Deferred On School Bus Cash
COUNCILLORS have deferred a controversial decision whether to axe a school transport subsidy which could mean hundreds of pupils are left stranded. Wrexham council chiefs are considering whether to axe cash to fund out of county transport for school pupils as part of cost- cutting measures.
A CRASH between a van and a car caused the partial closure of the A55 on Anglesey. The smash happened on the westbound carriageway at the Llangefni junction at around 12.15pm yesterday.
Wales: Dad and Daughters On Kidnap Charges
A FATHER and his two daughters accused of kidnapping their mum will be asked to enter pleas to the charges in April David Walker, Chelsea O'Neil and Kelly Anne O'Neil, appeared at a preliminary hearing at Mold Crown Court yesterday charged with abducting Sharon O'Neil on February 14 at Mount Pleasant, Ponciau, near Wrexham. Walker, 45, of Rupert Drive, Everton, Liverpool, is charged with kidnap and securing entry to the Ponciau property by force.
A 14-YEAR-OLD boy had to be sprayed with incapacitant spray after jumping on the back of a police officer in the early hours of New Year's Day, a court was told. Prosecutor Nita Dowell told Prestatyn youth court that the police were called to an incident in Bodelwyddan.
THE mother of a young man who was killed in 90mph crash while racing against his friend, yesterday pleaded with a judge to be lenient with the other driver. David Jonathan Bexon, 20, of Ffordd Ffynnon, Dyserth, was sentenced to two years and nine months youth custody at Mold Crown Court yesterday after he admitted causing the death of David Wares, 22, by dangerous driving in a crash in Prestatyn last year.
Wales: Assembly Appoints New Fire Adviser
THE Welsh Assembly Government has announced the appointment of its first Fire and Rescue Adviser with Her Majesty's Inspector status. Paul Young CBE, former Chief Fire Officer of Devon and Cornwall took up his post earlier this month.
A CINEMA complex was evacuated after a fire alert. The alarm went off at 9.41pm on Thursday night at Cineworld, Llandudno Junction, and around 200 people were evacuated.
A MIDDLE aged woman was taken to hospital yesterday afternoon after her car crashed into a barrier on the A55. The incident happened on the westbound carriageway between junction 9 and 10 at 3.01pm.

A COUNCILLOR and former mayor who served his Anglesey community for more than 50 years has died, aged 78. Great-grandfather Leslie Gordon Owen represented the Holyhead ward of Morawelon on town, district and county councils in a political career lasting 57 years. During that time he was mayor of Holyhead on two occasions.

A NURSE had the top of a finger sliced off when one patient at a psychiatric unit growled and attacked another - and the door slammed against her. The nurse, Wendy Bunton, had one of her fingers around the edge of the door as she entered the room when Barry Mc-Corry and his victim Brynle Hughes fell against it.
