MORE than 7, 000 runners crossed the finish line of Liverpool's biggest road race yesterday. From trained athletes to first timers, the elation was apparent on the faces of each as they made it round the course to be greeted by cheers from the crowd.

The event, a combination of the Liverpool International Half Marathon and Liverpool council 10k, is one of the country's top races and attracted athletes from around the world.
