FOR the past eight years, we"ve been told that our presence in Afghanistan is necessary to prevent the Taliban regaining control and thereafter potentially the country being used a base for al- Qaida.
We are now told that a major military offensive is needed in a large area of Afghanistan to wrest control of the area from the Taliban - a clearer indication of the failure of the past eight years' policy in the country it is difficult to imagine.See the full content of this document
