ANCIENT, historic, evocative, romantic - there's no end to the list of descriptions for Wales' castles. Fixtures in the landscape they stir up strong emotions and passions - usually depending on who built them. Now we're about to see some of these landmarks in a new light thanks to a second series of Byd o Liw in which artists reinterpret existing paintings.The list includes Welsh castles such as Dolbadarn and Dinas Bran, Norman castles like Raglan and Caernarfon, and Harlech, a Norman castle deeply associated with Welsh mythology and pre-Norman Wales.

The series begins in Dinefwr Castle, stronghold of Welsh princes since the days of Hywel The Good in the 10th century and the heart of the powerful and influential Lord Rhys princedom.
