A GWYNEDD slate firm has been awarded a pounds 1.5m contract to clad the exterior of the Welsh Assembly's new headquarters in North Wales - securing jobs at the company.

Contractor Pochin Construction, which had been criticised for employing Scottish steel suppliers at the Llandudno Junction site, has handed a slate cladding contract to Cerrig Ltd, based in Pwllheli. The company said it has helped secure the jobs of 35 workers employed by the firm.
