HOME Secretary David Blunkett yesterday called for a public debate on how best to prevent terrorism as he prepared to spell out possible options for new counter-terror laws.

Mr Blunkett said he wanted the British people as a whole to contribute to "solutions for the future" and not just human rights lawyers who have strongly criticised his plans to date.
