BREWER and pubs group Greene King reaped the rewards of an expansion driveyesterday as it unveiled a 23% hike in first half profits.
Greene King, which brews Old Speckled Hen and Abbot Ale, said its purchase of the Laurel pub chain and brewer Ridley's helped it report pre-tax profits before exceptional items of pounds 55.8m - ahead of market expectations. Both of these acquisitions were successfully integrated ahead of plan.
