CHESHIRE firefighters will not respond to automatic alarms from companies which "persistently" allow false callouts to be made after it was revealed more than pounds 5m is wasted each year.

Cheshire fire and rescue said 98% of automatic fire alarmcalls from businesses are false alarms and the service yesterday launched a new campaign in a bid to cut this number.
