MORE money is to be provided to three organisations central to the future of the Welsh language and this, unquestionably, is money well spent. Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones is to hand over pounds 2.3 million to Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin (nursery schools movement), Urdd Gobaith Cymru and the National Eisteddfod.

Hurrah for a little common sense. If the Welsh language is to thrive, all who care about it need to shift the focus away from ever stricter language laws and obsession with corporate bilingualism to nurturing Welsh where it belongs - in the hearts of our communities.
