Summary
RUTHIN'S castle is now a hotel specialising in excellent mediaeval banquets. And folk from centuries past would probably still feel at home there, as it certainly owes little to the 21st century. Yet it's not quite so old as some might think.
Construction of the castle was begun in 1277 by Dafydd, the brother of prince Llywelyn ap Gruffydd - but he forfeited it when he rebelled against King Edward I. It became the stronghold of Reginald de Grey who subjugated the area on the king's behalf.See the full content of this document
