FARM conservation is often seen as a product of persistence and patience, and the same might be said of FWAG Cymru's Silver Lapwing awards. It's been quite a few years since North Wales last tasted national success in the National Grid -backed competition, which rewards farmers for taking conservation-minded approach to land management.

This year's national winner came from Anglesey and the victory was again the product of persistence and commitment - the culmination of 24 years of pastoral care by Llewellyn-Roberts, farm manager of the Bodior Estate, Rhoscolyn.
