THE bells rang out for Liverpool Cathedral on Saturday afternoon as a world record was broken by its ringing team. It took nearly five hours of continuous ringing to break the record for the heaviest eight-bell peal ever rung, which had been held for more than 100 years by Exeter Cathedral.
The group of nine ringers included father-and-daughter combination Len and Rachel Mitchell, who together rang the tenor bell - which, at just over four tonnes, was the heaviest.See the full content of this document
