WHITEFIELD took the Bromborough Paints Merseyside Competition top- of-the-table clash at Old Xaverians by eight wickets with Rafa Afridi 82, Steve Cargill 41 not out and Tariq Afridi 7-37 leading the way.

Cheshire Lines kept in touch with the top two also with an eightwicket margin at Aigburth where Phil Carswell scored an unbeaten 42.
