Summary
THIS morning may be a suitable time to recount the story of one of the strangest concerts I have ever attended. It happened many years ago at the Royal Festival Hall and was a BBC Third Programme presentation by the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Walter Goehr.
After the Hall added a bizarre twist by putting out all the lights before the concert began, the Roman Carnival Overture of Berlioz was played followed by a Mozart Horn Concerto with soloist Dennis Brain. Then, before we had hardly settled, came the interval.
