Until the Trust was formed in 1996, Parys Mountain was a very rough diamond, its sparkle lost under piles of dumped rubbish.

Since then, volunteers have been toiling to restore the place. The result is stunning, especially under an evening sun. There before you, are vast man-made open cast pits and ruined mine buildings, a surreal, lunar landscape of red, yellow and purple coloured rocks.
