CORUS shares soared to a new four-year high yesterday after the steel giant struck an agreement to sell its aluminium business for pounds 570m.

The former British Steel company said it had signed a "letter of intent" with United States firm Aleris International for its aluminium operations as it banked improved profits for 2005.
