FOOTAGE of Iranians taking to the streets to demand basic human freedoms reminded me of a similar scene in Burma. Two years on from the "Saffron Revolution", "Saffron Tuesday" aimed to remind others.
After LJMU presented an award in absentia to Aung San Suu Kyi, it was no surprise FACT was one of 40 cinemas linked live to the premiere of "Burma VJ: Reporting from a Closed Country" at Bafta, with postscreening Q& A. It is an emotionally-charged docudrama that traces the uprising by telling the story of the video journalists (VJs) that recorded the first rumblings of discontent in mid-August to the brutal crackdown of the nonviolent demonstrations six weeks later.
