Summary
AFTER beating the strong New Brighton side in the previous round, Macclesfield will be attempting to stage an even bigger upset when they visit hot favourites Oulton Park in the second semi-final of the Cheshire Knockout Cup at Little Budworth on Sunday. Not out of relegation danger in the First Division of the Murray Smith Accountants Cheshire County League, Macclesfield have done well in the Cheshire Cup this season, eliminating North Staffs Leaguers Rode Park & Lawton and divisional leaders Bramhall before disposing of New Brighton by the wide margin of 100runs. Says their former Cheshire paceman Barney Cutbill: "We have a terrific team spirit and seem to raise our game on the day. We're gunning for Oulton on Sunday, never mind their reputation."
As for the ECB Premier League leaders, they, like Macclesfield, have never won the Cheshire Cup, but are hoping to do so this season especially with ground advantage both on Sunday and potentially in the final on Sunday, September 4, when they would host their old rivals Bowdon, the holders.See the full content of this document
