IAN BELL has done his time as England's flexible friend and is now happy to settle down as their recognised number six - even if he would like to regard it as a temporary measure.

The Warwickshire batsman has never had an established position in England's line-up during his 26 Tests and has often been the player moved to accommodate injuries or a re-shuffle in the batting order.
