GARY SHEPPARD'S six of the best earned St Helens a second triumph and second place in the Competition's First Division.

Fielding five players under 18, Liverpool had looked well placed at 106-2 in response to the visitors' 200. But Sheppard worked his magic for 6-52 and they succumbed for 175, despite Andrew Rogers (83) and Jimmy Titmuss (37) putting together 83 for the third wicket. South African sub pro Heino Kuhn (45) and Darren Tyms (41) top scored for the visitors, while young spinner Christian Edwards (4-36) and Matthew Whelan (3-44) bowled well.
