IT WAS once considered one of the lesser forms of writing. But writing for children is today one of the hottest of literary tickets. Ever since JK Rowling turned herself into a multi- millionairess with her series of Harry Potter books, publishers have been falling over themselves to find the next big thing in children's literature.

Now the annual High Sheriff's Cheshire Prize for Literature has decided to devote itself this year to the genre.
