A DIPLOMAT and an archaeologist were awarded honorary degrees by the University of Liverpool at yesterday's graduationday.

Sir James Hodge was presented with a Doctorate of Laws for building links with the Far East and Professor Lord Renfrew of Kaimsthorn was presented with a Doctorate of Letters for his pioneering archaeology work, including being among the first to use radio carbon dating.
