SURREY businessman Andy Smith last night claimed he was unaware a local consortium was close to agreeing a deal to buy Wrexham FC.

The developer, who runs property company United Plot-owners Association (UPA), last week stalled the takeover proposal from former Dragons director Neville Dickens and Geoff Moss.
