DOUBTLESS the Dean of Chester will long remember the remark made when the Rev David Chesters was appointed to the historic parish of St John's the Baptist.

"I've seen more evil in my life than you can ever imagine," he revealed to the startled Dean. This was a reference to his previous working life in HM Customs & Excise, latterly at London Gatwick Airport, in which he encountered some of human nature's worst aspects.
