Summary
THERE are some crucially different elements associated with the exercise initiatives, announced by Health Secretary Andy Burnham, that need very different considerations but which, I fear, will be tackled with a one-leotardfits-all approach and some chronically ill people will get hurt as a result.
The Let"s Get Moving Campaign is probably a good idea for people who are overweight and unfit but who have no underlying illness. But, among people who are on Incapacity Benefit (Sick benefit people "must exercise", Liverpool Daily Post, August 13), unable - not unwilling - to work because of illness, it is vital to distinguish between those who have conditions which may respond well to exercise and those which have been shown to be made worse by graded exercise treatments, even when given supervised by specialists.See the full content of this document
