Summary
IN response to the letter by Wyn Hobson on 24th March I would like to have the chance to explain a little about structural funding in Wales. Indeed the South Wales Valleys is one of only a few UK regions entitled to cohesion funding due to an ailing economy and widespread local unemployment. These funds are due to end in 2013, meaning all of the jobs, services and projects created as a result could potentially crumble if transitional arrangements aren't made.
All of the Welsh MEPs are keen to mitigate any fall out from funding cuts, because political allegiances aside, we want the best for Wales. The European Commission are considering give your name, and telephone Letters may and are published editor's changing the way cohesion funding is granted. Rather than looking regionally at who needs help, support will be awarded nationally, and the UK would be highly unlikely to receive any funding whatsoever as more member states join.See the full content of this document
