CRANES were yesterday placing the first wind turbines on the Rhyl Flats offshore windfarm.

The 25 turbines are being mounted on top of the foundation piles which were sunk last year. Work was delayed when the first specialist assigned to the project was lost at sea last year while en route to the site.
