PASSENGERS on Flybe's two Liverpool routes will have to pay a pounds 3 fuel surcharge on flights from September 1. The carrier, which connects the city with the Isle of Man and Belfast City airport, announced the extra charge on all of its routes, in a bid to recoup high fuel costs. It said the surcharge will be removed should the price of Brent crude fall below $75 per barrel for more than 28 consecutive days.
In a trading update, it forecast underlying profits before tax and one-off items of around pounds 22m for this year. However, it listed a range of one-off costs that will virtually wipe out any surplus, including pounds 11.6m due to the effects on its schedules of the Icelandic volcano last year, pounds 6.5m caused by disruption from severe weather in the UK last December, pounds 1.7m of costs related to the group's recent independent public offering, and losses on fuel and foreign exchange hedges of pounds 6.8m.See the full content of this document
