WE have just started using Jersey Royal potatoes now they have come into season. I just love the little kidney shaped potato, simply boiled and served with butter and salt, but for some reason the flavour seems to be drifting away.

I remember as a little boy my grandfather growing tiny new potatoes and spending hours scraping them before they were devoured. The taste is hard is to find these days unless you buy organic. I dislike pre-washed potatoes, they're less flavoursome, and try to get older ones with the soil still attached.
