PETER GRIMLEY took advantage of local knowledge of his home course Chirk,posting rounds of 70-71 to win the Denbighshire County Championship for the third time in six years at the weekend.

The one handicap 24-year-old, who was champion in 1999 and 2001, won by three shots from his two handicap club-mate Mark Evans, who had two rounds of 72, with another onehandicapper, Chris Platt from Wrexham, third on 146 after rounds of 76-70.
