Summary
HARDLY a day passes without some new headline in the Press revealing yet another excess by our elected Members of Parliament in their expense claims.
Last week, it was revealed that a member of the Cabinet was claiming second home allowances when, in fact, his main residence was only 11 miles from the Houses of Parliament. Now we learn that the husband of Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, claimed at tax payers' expense the cost of two adult films. That he subsequently expressed regret for the embarrassment that he caused his wife, and he no doubt promptly arranged to repay the modest sum involved, will be small comfort for the hard-pressed taxpayers and electorate of this country struggling to survive the r ecession.See the full content of this document
