NIA Parry and Bernie Latham must be the only people in Wales looking forward to meeting Janet Street-Porter. Last year the aesthetically-challenged journalist and broadcaster made herself deeply unpopular in Wales when she branded the Welsh language "dead" and "irrelevant".

In a television blast in which she remembered her childhood days visiting North Wales, she described the people as "unfriendly,dour and unwelcoming."So it was a surprise when she was revealed as one of seven celebrities taking up the challenge of learning Welsh in a week in intensive lessons at the Nant Gwrtheyrn Language Centre.
