Summary
LAST Saturday night's concert at Nant Peris, in the shadow of Snowdon, showed that there is still a welcome in the hillsides for our Welsh cousins from Patagonia. A chapel full of well-wishers raised over pounds 1,500 , to buy another air-ticket for Shirley Edwards and Evelyn Calcabrini, two young students from Patagonia, who were refused entry into Britain a few weeks ago.
I could not help but contrast this shabby episode with the welcome we received on a centenary visit to Patagonia in 1965. Eighty of us made the long journey. I was amongst the youngest - about the same age as Shirley and Evelyn are today. It was the first large Welsh delegation to visit Patagonia in 50 years.See the full content of this document
