DEBORAH James set out in her article (May 24) someof the issues relating to bus services and Merseytravel's plan to force bus companies to take Solo,Trio or Saveaway tickets.
Merseytravel has long been fixated with low fares, which is why Merseyrail is cheaper than buses or taxis.The fastest growing part of public transport is,however, taxis, which have the highest fares. Taxi use has overtaken rail use by 50%. Fares are only one aspect of what makes people choose to use public transport .The other is the quality of service.See the full content of this document
