Summary
YOUR columnist Ivor Wynne Jones compared the derogatory usage of expressions such as "Paddy", "Taffy" and "Jock" when referring to the Irish, Welsh and Scots and equated such offensive epithets with the use of the term "Saxon" when referring to an Englishman/woman.
I suspect that the indigenous inhabitants of Wales, Ireland and Scotland would not object to being referred to as Celts or Celtic and that they would most likely regard such a term not only with honour and pride but also with an inherent sense of history. One would therefore challenge Mr Jones' assertion and question the rationale which he considers might cause an English person to feel reviled or offended to as a Saxon?See the full content of this document
