Summary
THE Mersey Tunnels Users Association (MTUA) would have us believe that the tolls for the tunnels are unfair. This does not hold itself up to scrutiny. A well publicised myth exists that car driving is more expensive when, in real terms, it is actually getting cheaper. Car driving costs the nation more than pounds 45bn yet drivers repay only a third of this.
