Summary
SAM LISTER'S article about the flooding of a Welsh village 40 years ago brought back memories of my service with the Water Engineers Department of the city of Liverpool. I agree with David Rowlands, the retired surveyor, and the mention of better housing and compensation paid was more than generous.
I well remember Cllr John Braddock, husband of Bessie, saying at the public inquiry, have you seen the state of the village? No gas, no electricity, graveyard neglected and housing very poor. He compared this with the improvement of the facilities at Vyrnwy. Better schools, community centre, electricity, no oil lamps.See the full content of this document
