RE: THE geographical status of Southport (The Debate, November 29), John Lee of the Southport Party has a very selective perspective which may owe more to antiLiverpool sentiment than to genuine historical specificity.
It could be argued that Southport "historically" was part of the "ancient" Welsh district of Cumbria (land of the Cymri), as, of course, was Liverpool. I wonder if the loss of Cumbria has created a ". . . festering sore of discontent" among the Welsh?See the full content of this document
