Summary
AS A youngster in the 1950s, I can remember visiting an aircraft carrier in the Liverpool docks with other children from the street I lived in. It was a magical experience, and I can still remember us all being let loose and scuttling up and down ladders and passing through galleys where food was cooking and everywhere there were helpful sailors to answer our questions. We must have done everything other than fire the big guns!
Fired by these rosy memories, I took my two grandchildren to visit the Ark Royal moored at the Pier Head on its recent visit. What a letdown!See the full content of this document
