AFTER nearly 47 years of getting his hands dirty and arranging flowers for the Queen and the Pope, Liverpool's longest-serving gardener has finally been able to hang up his gloves.

John Hussey, 63, planted his last tree, a conifer, on Allerton golf course as he received a long service medal from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) for his loyal dedication.
