THE annual report of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra makes illuminating reading. Of the orchestra's pounds 900, 000 annual civic grant, pounds 820, 000 is paid by Liverpool City Council, the remaining pounds 60, 000 comes from Sefton and others. Arts bastion Wirral only gives pounds 20, 000.
Yet Liverpool residents account for just 23% of the audience. If Sefton and Wirral use the orchestra as part of a cultural package to attract inward investment, shouldn't they contribute more?See the full content of this document
