Summary
ALL the innocent fun and delicious vulgarity of an English seaside postcard could be found, wobbling and winking, saucily and eternally, in the roly-poly figure of the man with the big glasses, quizzical smile and raised eyebrows, who not only filled our TV screens, but seemed to emerge from them into the lounges and parlours of every home in Britain.
