PRISON - does it work? Do we need to build more? Should we cut the burgeoning prison population, or let it rise further? In North Wales most of us are pretty keen on seeing a jail built somewhere in the region - we don't have one, it would be easier for relatives to visit inmates and it would bring in plenty of jobs.
But Alan Beith, Liberal Democrat chairman of the Commons' justice select committee took a very dim view of the merits of prison last week.
