ANYONE believing that Ellen Kent's touring Opera International, featuring some of the finest classical Eastern European voices, is even remotely a stripped-down effort would be disavowed of such a notion by this vibrant offering.

Mind you, in truth, she does offer a certain element of stripping down with a wonderfully risqu trio of bare-breasted strumpets cavorting over the stage in Verdi's bawdy, if ultimately tragic, tale of lust, loose morals and betrayal.
