ST HELENS wheelchair tennis player Mark Eccleston found it hard to accept his exit at the hands of third seed Bas van Erp in the quad event at the Paralympic Games.

Eccleston had fought back bravely after losing the first set 6-1 to the Dutchman. And after levelling in the second he earned two match points. But van Erp survived, and went on to win the match 6- 1 3-6 7-5 after 104 minutes of gripping tennis.
